Over forty years ago a Granger man with a big idea and bigger ambition formed a partnership that would change the rental industry in Michiana forever. Each an entrepreneur in his own right, Jim Sharpe senior, CEO of AAY’S Rent-All and Burt Liss oversaw operation of the 6,000 square foot Hertz Rental on Lincolnway East. Jim would eventually venture out on his own but not before learning some invaluable concepts from Burt about the rental business.
“Yes, I can do that” was the answer to most questions in the early days at AAY’S Rent-All. Truly no job was too big or too small. Making deliveries after hours, opening the store early and making service calls in the dead of winter were all very much routine. In any and every way, AAY’S was here to help.
The next generation of AAY’S saw Jim’s three sons inherit the company. Jim Jr. handled party goods, Mike handled convention needs and Tim took over the tool division. Each son took the company in his own direction bringing new ideas and attitudes to an already prospering corporation. Always aiming to please, the boys turned one-time renters into loyal repeat customers.
Throughout the years there have been many things that have helped the company grow but none more important than the employees. From the family members and thirty-year veterans to the college and high school kids working in the summer, their attitude, work ethic and dedication have proved invaluable in making AAY’S the success it is today.
In March of 2007 AAY’S Rental embarked on its latest business venture when AAY’S Rental and Production Services was created. Relying on the experience and education of the staff engineers, AAY’S built a rental inventory to service the corporate and special event world. Since it’s inception, the Rental and Production Services division has continued to grow. Relying of forty years of dependability, reputation built it, customer satisfaction sustains it.
In the end it has been where other rental stores have faltered that AAY’S has absolutely excelled. That is, remaining true to its beliefs, never losing sight of the goal, and refusing to deviate from the very concepts that have proven to be the foundation on which this company is built upon.
